Childcare Volunteer Program

Help Children Thrive Through Care and Compassion

Join VolunteerLink Africa’s Childcare Volunteer Program in Uganda and make a positive impact in the lives of children by supporting local childcare centres, nursery schools, community projects, and children’s homes. Your time, kindness, and enthusiasm can help create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can learn, grow, and build confidence.

Whether you are taking a gap year, studying education, social work, psychology, childcare, or simply have a passion for working with children, this program offers a rewarding opportunity to give back while experiencing Uganda’s rich culture.

Your Role as a Volunteer

Volunteers work alongside local caregivers and teachers, providing extra support in daily childcare activities. Depending on your placement, responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with daily care and supervision of children.
  • Organizing educational games and creative learning activities.
  • Teaching basic English, reading, writing, and numeracy skills.
  • Supporting early childhood development through play-based learning.
  • Helping with arts, crafts, music, sports, and outdoor activities.
  • Assisting during meal times and promoting good hygiene practices.
  • Offering encouragement, friendship, and emotional support to children.

Volunteers always work under the guidance of experienced local staff and complement existing childcare services.
