Teaching Volunteer Program –

Inspire Young Minds Through Education

Join VolunteerLink Africa’s Teaching Volunteer Program in Uganda and help improve educational opportunities for children and young people in local communities. By sharing your knowledge, creativity, and enthusiasm, you can make a lasting impact while gaining valuable international experience and cultural understanding.

Whether you are a qualified teacher, education student, gap-year traveler, or simply passionate about helping children learn, this program offers a rewarding opportunity to support schools where additional teaching assistance is greatly appreciated.

Your Role as a Volunteer

Volunteers work alongside local teachers in primary and secondary schools, assisting with classroom activities and supporting students in a positive learning environment. Depending on your skills and experience, responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting teachers with daily classroom lessons.
  • Teaching English language, reading, writing, and conversation skills.
  • Supporting mathematics, science, social studies, and other subjects.
  • Organizing educational games, sports, music, art, and creative activities.
  • Helping students with homework and reading practice.
  • Supporting school libraries and learning resource centres.
  • Encouraging confidence, teamwork, and personal development among learners.

Volunteers work under the guidance of local teachers and complement—not replace—existing school staff.

We welcome volunteers from around the world who are:

  • Qualified teachers.
  • Education and university students.
